Buffing removes the old worn tread design. The Bandag buffer works like a lathe. While removing the old tread the inflated casing is trued and buffed following the contour of the belt package. Care is taken to assure the proper amount of undertread remains. We follow criteria published by new tire manufacturers and Bandag, allowing a smoother running retread. Your retread will have greater driver acceptance, reduce vehicle maintenance, and deliver optimum milage.

Your casings are thoroughly inspected to ensure they meet our high standards, and your fleet criteria for casing
retreadability. We combine the trained experience of a certified inspector and the thoroughness of electronic
devices to assure all flaws are caught and rejected.
A pre buff inspection provides a bead to bead scan with unmatched accuracy. This reduces in service failures to fleets by removing non-retreadable casing before they get retreaded.
Your tires is inflated to normal running configuration, a uniform stretch is applied to the Bandag tread. As the tread is applied to your tire, cushion gum (an adhesive layer) is applied to the back of the Bandag tread. Cushion gum bonds the Bandag tread to your casing. This bond becomes one of the strongest parts of the retread.
We bond new tread rubber to your casings using a low curing temperature. Your tires are encased in a flexible rubber envelope and placed into a pressure chamber to cure. your casings are not subjected to excessive heat or rigid metal molds that could distort
the casing or its integrity.
Every Bandag retread gets a thorough 7 point visual inspection, assuring only the best
possible retreads are returned to your fleet.
